What is Restorative Dental Care?

Restorative dental care aims to restore the normal function of your teeth and the appearance of your smile by repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth. Restorative dental care procedures can also help restore normal jaw function for optimal oral health.

Depending on the issue at hand, our dentists at Atlantic Dental Centre will determine the right restorative treatment option for you.

Dental Crowns

Crowns are porcelain caps that are placed on top of teeth to restore their function and appearance. Crowns can be used to cover dental implants, prevent a cracked tooth from getting worse, or attach bridges. Crowns can also be used to help restore discoloured teeth to their natural appearance.

Dental Bridges

Bridges are teeth replacements that are bonded to existing teeth or dental implants to replace a section of missing teeth. Bridges are custom made and have a natural-looking appearance. Dental bridges can restore the natural contour of teeth and the bite between upper and lower teeth.

Dental Fillings

At Atlantic Dental Centre, we use a composite (tooth-coloured) filling to repair a cavity or tooth damage, like a crack. Composite fillings can withstand the moderate pressure placed on teeth from chewing and can be used on front and back teeth.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are custom-made, tooth-coloured porcelain fillings used to repair cavities when there is too much damage for a standard dental filling. They are made in a dental laboratory and then permanently cemented to the tooth as a single piece.

Full & Partial Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth used to replace any number of missing teeth. Partial dentures replace one missing tooth or several in a row while full dentures replace a whole jaw of missing teeth. They allow patients with missing teeth to speak and eat properly and maintain facial structure.

Root Canals

Root canals are used to remove diseased blood vessels, nerves, and tissues from the interior of a tooth. By performing this procedure, your dentist can remove decay and bacteria to help halt the spread of infection and prevent the need for an extraction.

TMJ Disorder Treatment

The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. The disorder of this joint can be painful and can cause a host of issues with your jaw and the muscles in your face. Our dentists can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
